The sector of Local and Regional Authorities is in full evolution in the new Europe. Consequently, the danger of privatization also exists here, with all the known effects, such as the increase of perforrnance pressure, the contracting-out of certain types of service and the linkage of salary with performance.

In this respect, EUROFEDOP wants to promote the installation of a European social dialogue at qualified European institutions such as the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the European Parliament and the International Labour Office.

Thanks to our constructive activities, the circle of organizations that cooperate within the framework of this trade council, has expanded considerably lately and we managed to awaken the interest of a great number of organizations from Eastern Europe. Training, cooperation and exchange are indispensable at the European level and therefore the objective of this Trade Council in order to achieve: - a more attractive professional analysis of the civil servants - an equal treatment for female and male personnel - a social dimension within mobility requirements - a depoliticization of the public function.
